Stranded Red (Adjacent Gallery)

Metropolitan Museum Gallery 827

Stranded Red is a six week exploration of representation and light within a painting andgallery in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We will visit the museum and find a painting that portrays light in a way we are drawn to. After selecting the painting, document the existing conditions of the gallery room the painting is presented in. Each week we will be introduced to different representation tools to study chosenpainting, the gallery it exists in, and how light forms the perception of both space and art. We are encouraged to expand on the Light Painting Space module by designing a new gallery space adjacent to the existing one which are studying.
